The movie has a lot of similarities to the actual case but the filmmakers never claim that the story is based in truth.
The story is set on a Hawaiian cruise and begins when Lindsey (Glau) marries her seemingly dreamboat husband Trevor (Carmack). The honeymoon quickly turns sour as the couple indulge in a night of wild partying, infidelity and strange encounters. When Trevor goes missing an FBI investigator suspects foul play.
The acting is not the best, but the movie is still watchable. Harvey Keitel’s appearance as the main investigator is particularly enjoyable. He must have wandered onto the Lifetime set while on his way to film a Martin Scorsese production.
The movie was good, but it lacked the dramatic impact you would expect in a thriller. I also thought that the ending was too quick and easy. Despite these issues the movie is worth watching for Glau’s performance alone. She is an actress who has played a variety of challenging and interesting roles throughout her career.

The 4400, despite some missteps (notably Meghan Doyle’s weak portrayal as NTAC boss), was a good series all the way through. It set up a fantastic conclusion in its final season. Its finale is better than most abruptly cancelled shows.
The show features several actors of color. Joseph David-Jones is Jordan, a social worker paired up with Jharrel, who helps the displaced adjust to modern life.
